Notes from Celes Davar:
- There are many new opportunities for tourism operators to ensure that sustainable tourism becomes fully integrated into their operations.
- Customers are going to be coming much more knowledgeable about sustainable technologies (wind, bio-fuels, pv, solar). How will we make sure that our operations reflect customer expectations?
- Todd Lucier and Celes Davar will be joining 100 other Climate Project Presentors from Canada and 400 Americans with Al Gore at the North American Summit in Nashville, TN, to learn about techniques for effective advocacy of governments to pass climate change legislation this year.
- 2009 is the year of the Copenhagen Treaty. The TIAC Sustainable Tourism Charter should be part of Canada’s position.
- The Canadian Tourism Commission has a new $20.0 Million stimulus package boost that is focused on a domestic marketing program. A great opportunity for tourism operators to link their new experiences to the EQ, and national domestic marketing initiatives that focus on great Canadian experiences.
