Tucked away in beautiful rural Manitoba at the Elkhorn Resort just outside Riding Mountain National Park, 33 tourism industry folks are gathering for a 3.5 day course on experiential travel with the goal of having new products in market for 2012 and 2013.
Through a collaboration with Travel Manitoba, the Gros Morne Institute for Sustainable Tourism, the Tourism Cafe, and Earth Rhythms we have evolved the Edge of the Wedge program, offered in Rocky Harbour Newfoundland to over 600 people in 26 courses to one that involves an active role with the provincial destination marketing organization – Travel Manitoba. Some of the original gems remain, others have been updated, and some cool new ones added on branding, experiential programming vs. packaging, a more detailed costing/pricing session, 8 fabulous case studies from across Canada, an experiential marketing with the province, action planning and of course – some new wonderful rural Manitoba experiences.

Most exciting is the GMIST “EDGE” family continues to grow with tourism businesses, organizations and communities interested in raising the bar for tourism by layering on experiences to their current activities.
